[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Congratulations to Wendy Ward Johnson, a NetWidow and wife of Dr. Keyboard for getting her web page up.

I have a full day today. CBCR has a meeting at one of our volunteers' houses here in Winston. There will be about ten of us. We have a lot of business to settle during which we will partake of some pizza and have a working lunch. The president of CBCR, Fletch, is driving up from Easley, SC. He drives around in one of those small camper vehicles like a turtle who caries his home around on his back. Last night he drove as far as High Point and camped. Tonight he is "camping" at our house.

He is bringing me a set of golf clubs that he bought for his wife but she no longer plays. Fletch, my dad, and I are playing tomorrow at our local course for me to try them out. My set is about thirteen years old. I do not want to invest a lot of money in a new set since I do not play as often as I did. And, once my dad can no longer play, I will not be playing that much anyway. Fletch has offered me a deal on this set if I like them. Clubs have changed a lot over the last ten years since I bought my set.

He is following me home after the meeting this afternoon. We'll order take out for dinner and have a nice relaxing evening. Fletch is quite a character and enjoys good conversation.

I will miss the "kick off" tomorrow of the Daytona 500, but will be home in plenty of time to watch the majority of the race. Anything exciting happens, I can catch on the highlights.

Kerry, our oldest BC, can now make it up the stairs from the basement to the main floor by himself and without his back legs giving out before he gets to the top. That is quite an improvement from two months ago, when I had to hold his back end up to get him to the top. The shots really helped, plus he gets a Prednisone every other day. He is also on a new joint supplement Synovecre. He only needs one a month for maintenance level. It is a glucosamine supplement. Needless to say, when I go out of town for any reason I have to leave Bob a chart with the dogs and medications listed since I am the one who is primarily responsible for their supplements.

Talk about letting sleeping dogs lie. I have three behind me on the floor right now, sacked out at 9:45am. They have already had their first play activity for the day and are ready for their mid-morning naps. Duncan is using Malcolm's old slipper I gave him as a pillow. What good dogs, like kids, always the most precious when they are asleep.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Dad and Fletch and I had a very nice round of golf. I like the new clubs I tried out and plan to keep them. It was very windy which made it rather raw on the front side. By the time we turned the side, the temperature had risen and the wind had died down a little, making it a nice, pleasant day.

We ate lunch in the club house and watched the start of the race, then came home. Fletch took off for home and I jumped in the shower real fast so I could watch the remainder of the race. Bob took a nap and I dozed while listening to what was going on. I am not a big fan of restrictor plate racing, so I sort of half watched.

We then watched a Masterpiece Theater that we had taped, Madame Bovery. I am sure I read the book a long time ago when I was into reading all the classics but did not remember much of the story.

I am very tired for some reason, so an early night for me.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Short posting this morning.

I had to pick up Bonnie this morning from the fosterer and take her in to the vet for her spay surgery. I will do my house cleaning this morning and Bob needs to do the laundry. I have to pick up Bonnie this afternoon and take her home.

I will catch up on paper work this afternoon and post the minutes from our meeting on our list for those volunteers who did not come.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Our day got off to a rather early start. I awoke at 4:03 am to beep, beep, beep. I woke up Bob and asked him if that was his UPS in his office. After investigating the situation he came back to bed. As soon as Bob jumped out of bed, Duncan took his place and Malcolm came up at the foot. Bob came back to bed and we jostled around for covers and sleeping positions. Just as I had finally gone back to sleep, I was again waken by beep, beep, beep. Bob must have still been awake because he heard it too. Ordinarily you can set off a small explosion by him when he is sleeping and he will not budge.

Back into his office, I think eventually shut everything down. He then decided to try sleeping on the couch. I guess I finally got back to sleep around 5:45 or so. And of course Border Collies can tell time. They always wake us up at 7:00.  Bob and I are walking around half awake this morning. I guess he will try to find out what made the UPS in his office unhappy. He about six machines running in there plus monitors, modems, etc.

This morning as we are working in our offices the beep, beep, beep continues. Bob thinks the UPS may be having problems. He replaced it with another one. I hope that cures the problem.

I am glad I decided to stay home this morning and work on another chapter for Bob rather than go play golf. I am pretty tired and most likely would not have played very well. I also need to finish getting materials ready for my meeting on Friday at the University of Georgia in Athens. The regional AIIP members, the Southern Searchers, are holding our quarterly meeting in Georgia. I am driving down Thursday and coming back Friday after the meeting.

Since I will not be home Thursday night, we are doing flyball tonight. I need to mow the grass this afternoon to get leaves and sticks up. It is time to put out weed and feed on the lawn for spring. I need to do my yard and I will have to do my dad's yard too. It has to be wet with dew to put it down and then not rain for 24 hours. Then it needs to rain. Try getting mother nature to cooperate with that schedule. I hope to put mine out over the weekend and do my dads first of next week.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Carpe Diem. Yesterday afternoon I mowed the grass then changed the oil in the lawnmower and cleaned the air filter. This morning was a beautiful morning with a very heavy dew. I decided to go ahead and put out my weed and feed and hope we get the promised rainfall for this weekend.

I came back in from my yard activities and asked Bob if he was working on his page. He said he was. I asked him if I had time to do mine. He then announced he had a new game plan whereby he would leave his FrontPage up all the time to allow for updating whenever he wished. I asked him if he had planned to tell me about this little scheme. I have been limited to updating my page in the morning when he publishes. He said he just started doing it,  HA! He never did answer my question.

I have a slew of errands to run this morning. If Bob has his chapter finished by this afternoon I will start reading through it for him. I guess we will go to the library, Bob will need books for the remainder of the week and weekend. I have a couple to take with me on my trip.

Duncan did very well at flyball last night. He went down the jump lane, got the ball, and came back up the jup lane to me. This is the first time he has ever completed an entire run. Malcolm jumped over his first jump. We started him at one jump to see how he would do.

AFTERNOON 1:30 pm

I e-mailed our friend Steve Tucker to ask him if I should bother to complain to NASCAR about the mockery they and Bill France Sr. are making of the sport of Winston Cup auto racing. It is starting to become a sport much with World Championship Wrestling has. Their rules and back street politics to line their pockets and control the headlines in the newspapers in becoming quite apparent. NASCAR can almost decide who will win the race, which "car manufacturer" will look perform the best, and who will win the championship.

This is my post to Steve along with his reply.

Barbara F. Thompson [barbara@ttgnet.com] wondered if it would do any good to make your opinion on the current state of NASCAR Winston Cup racing known to the powers in Daytona Beach.  Naturally, I suggested she fire up pen and paper.\

Just a curiosity. Does it do any good to write to Mr. France and complain that he is ruining Winston Cup racing. I hope I am not being brainwashed <snip>, but I do feel that NASCAR can control things to the point where they can have drivers and manufacturers be the winners based on their darn rules.

If he controls the testing and the rules he is controlling the ball game. Iknow Daytona is just the first race. And every year the manufacturers that do not dominate the field cry foul. Than as the other tracks are run and restrictor plates are not an issue it tends to balance out. Looks to me like NASCAR and politics are getting like leftovers in the fridge. Starting to stink up the place.

By all means, make your opinion known.  Lets not allow them to forget that we are the ones who pay the bills.  You can contact NASCAR Online here or send a message the old fashioned way here.

I did indeed fire off a polite but verbal piece of my mind to NASCAR via their on-line service. In talking with some of my other friends, they too feel NASCAR is being ruined by the almighty dollar.

The dogs are asleep in their usually places. One under my desk, on under the other desk in my office. Hopefully with the peace and quiet, Bob will get more work done on his chapter.

If you have never been to the west coast of California, I advise to you take a look at Marcia's Bilbrey's web site of her and her husbands recent trip to Morro Bay and San Simeon's Hearst Castle . The pictures are phenomenal of the bay and the castle.  Brian has a cool picture of the original switchboard used at the castle.

I have done all the wifely duties required for me to be gone for two days. I made a list of the medications for the dogs. A list of the food available for Bob and his mom for dinner for two nights is on the fridge. I am looking forward to my trip; Bob is not. I am not sure if he will miss me or if it is because he is stuck with two dogs, a puppy, and his mom to deal with for 48 hours. Let's not speculate. He is trying to finish his book. But I warned him of this meeting over a month ago.

I enjoy getting away and am excited about the meeting. It should be very productive. I also like visiting college campuses and can't wait to see University of Georgia's.
