[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

I have a review on my favorites page of the book I am presently reading, Morgan's Run by Colleen McCullough.

This morning Bob is going to get a haircut with the new clippers I bought him for his anniversary gift.  I seem to be mostly recovered from the sinus infection, although I am not feeling back to 100% energy level.

I hope that we can get the pictures scanned today for the trip report. We are getting another soaking rain, this time from the remnants of tropical storm Helen. We have had over 8 inches of rain this month. Speaking of weather, Wendy Ward Johnson posted her page that they had a tornado in the South of France. Totally weird, they never get tornados there.

I shall have an easy do of it since I am still trying to get up to par. I have a lot to do next week to get ready to go out of town again and the inevitable packing mess has not been touched all week.

We are having easy Tuna/Ham Casserole  for dinner tonight. We had beef stroganoff the other night. It is another one of my easy recipes I will post to my recipe page as soon as I get it sent to Marcia.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

I have the Ontario/Quebec trip posted. I worked on it all day yesterday and last night. I did a lot of rewriting and cutting and pasting as I went along adding pictures. Please let me know if you see something weird or a link does not work. I put a lot time in this one to add links to some of the places we visited. This trip was very hard to photograph because a great deal of what we saw was from the bus or it was raining. I have read through it once for major mistakes and will look it over again tonight and probably do a little fine tuning.

I may add some additional pictures after I go over to my folks house this morning. My sister has hers to show me and she may have some I do not have.

Today is race day in Dover, Delaware. I will not be cleaning house since I will gone all next week. I will wait and do it the middle of the week so it does not get as bad as it did the last time.

Tomorrow I am going to start tackling packing messes and get that done before we leave. I don't mind chaos as long as it is organized.

We have a gorgeous fall day here in the Carolinas. The rain left replaced by clear blue skies and nice comfortable temperatures.

Malcolm is going through another wild streak. He turned a year old yesterday but is still very much a puppy. Since yesterday morning he has had four accidents in the house and chewed numerous things he could steal from tables and counters. This morning he went on a wild romp running up and down the hall from the den and back down again. This is how he burns his energy. It is just very hard for him to get any purchase with the hardwood floors, so there is a lot of scrabbling and skidding.

Growing up is hard even for dogs.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Okay, gourmet cook I am not. I am a good cook but I do not do fancy. Anyway, I sent Marcia my Beef Stroganoff recipe to post on my page of the Netwidows Recipe Page . I made this one up from scratch one day when Bob asked me if I would make it as it is one of his favorite foods. Having never made it before I used what I had in the house for ingredients. I always keep mushroom soup and beef broth on hand because I use it for a lot of my cooking. The recipe is very basic and allows for a lot variations according to taste. I do have two cookbooks that I keep handy and I checked their recipes just to see what ingredients they use. One recipe did use yogurt to replace the sour cream but we don't like yogurt and I am not fond of sour cream, the standard ingredient in stroganoff. So, I came up with the mushroom soup.

The other night we were supposed to have the Easy Tuna/Turkey/Chicken casserole but when I went in to mix it up I did not have the soup and we were out of milk. We had homemade pizza instead, which Bob did not mind, because I had anchovies to put on one half for him . We have been experimenting with pizza too. I make it with just cheese and toppings and omit the sauce. It is pretty good and something different.

Other than a nagging cough and stuffy head, I am finally feeling back to normal. I will go to the gym and do a light workout this morning. When I get back I am going to tackle the basement and get started on cleaning it up. Then I can move some stuff around and get some of the packing boxes and furniture organized.

We are having connection and Internet service problems. Bob has had a hard time publishing and the connectivity rate is horribly slow.

The Winston Cup MBNC Gold 400 race from Dover Delaware was a pretty good race at least as a fan. There were a lot of lead changes and some pretty good racing up front and back in the pack. Several of the top five  who are trying to catch Bobby Labonte for the championship went out early due to crashes allowing Bobby to extend his points lead.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Things are progressing nicely. I did get the basement tidied and it looks much better. I still have to organize the lawn toys and vacuum, but at least it does not looked trashed like it did. I have a pile of stuff going to the Goodwill that I will haul off tomorrow. I will not risk aggravating my sinus condition by stirring up a lot of dust and will wait to sweep and vacuum when I get back from NH.

It has turned right chilly here after the cold front came through last night with yet more rain. It looks like it will be quite cool up in NH week. We will be packing for cold weather just in case.

I am going to clean house this morning and then try to get some work done on the book. I think I am feeling well enough to try spinning class tonight. I have missed several weeks in a row and will miss next week too, being gone again. I had planned to do the Saturday class last weekend but was sick with the sinus mess.

I have almost finished Morgan's Run. I highly recommend it. If you liked the Thorn Birds you will like this one too. I did not read the Roman series, Bob did, but McCullough seems to still be writing good quality fiction. I am not familiar with the history of the real Richard Morgan to know of any historical inaccuracies but the history of the period, as I know it, seems to be fairly accurate.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

This is most likely my last post until we return from New Hampshire. Bob is having a devil of a time publishing and will not be doing so again this week, so he told me,  to get ready for the trip. I am playing golf in the morning and we leave early Friday. We are driving as far as Princeton, NJ to meet an author whom Bob and I have been corresponding with.

Then Saturday it is on to New Hampshire. I am very excited about the trip and hope that we find an area we like and maybe look at some houses to see what is available, etc. We have through Friday to get all this done. We need to leave Saturday for the two day drive back to Winston.

I have quit a bit to get done too before we leave. After my doctor's appointment this morning, I need to do the grocery shopping. This afternoon it will be lawn mowing and then we are going to the library and dinner.

I have not played golf in many weeks and tomorrow is to be a pretty fall day, so I am taking the time to get a round in. I can pack in the afternoon and we can load the car tomorrow night with most of the stuff.

I guess that is all for now.
