[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

The first picture of the male bluebird I took in my neighbor's backyard. Jim nailed a Frisbee to a pole to put baby worms in they bought at the bird store. I did not know I had caught one of him with a worm in his mouth. I was just shooting every time he came down to grab one. The female would not come down to eat. The bluebird house is just out of the picture to the left. She has laid her eggs which should hatch sometime next week.

The same neighbor's back porch faces the side of our house. I shot a lot of pictures of the little ones when the mom suddenly decided to show up for feeding time. Several times one of the little ones stretched its wings and tried to fly out of the nest. I imagine they will be out by the end of this week.

I gave Bob a haircut this morning before doing the weekly house cleaning. We have a gutter company coming today to give us a quote on gutters with tops and another one tomorrow.

This fall we will have been in our house 19 years. Not too long ago we had actually thought about moving to another neighborhood when this one started going a little downhill. However, it has made a good transition back to young families with children and folks taking care of the property again. With the mortgage soon to be paid off we have decided we may as well stay here. I don't want to start another round of mortgage payments at my age. Instead, I would like to start doing some minor remodeling/repairing both inside and out. Some of the maintenance things we did when we first moved in like gutters, painting, etc now need it again. Gutters are the first major undertaking as the old ones are in very bad shape. Once we get that project out of the way we can look at siding the wood portions of the house v. painting. I can do inside painting when the time comes and other small projects. With the new roof and driveway resealed the outside has started to look better.

Once the gutter guys get gone I will take off to run errands across town finishing up with my 4:30 haircut appointment.

It appears we will have another cold, raw day today. The rain should be moved out by this evening. Malcolm and I have missed our neighborhood walks the past couple of nights.

I am still reading the Liam Campbell. I need to get it finished before I leave to go on my trip. I don't like to take library books on long trips but instead grab a few light paperbacks from my TBR pile.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

You are reading my last post until next week. In the morning my folks and I leave for the Holland Tulip Festival in Holland, Mi. Holiday Tours will, of course, be providing the transportation. We leave from Winston-Salem at 8:30 rather than from level cross at some ungodly time of the morning like 6am thus I am able to spend tonight at home. I am picking mom and dad up in the morning then driving over to pick up Frances. She will drive my car back to her house then pick us up Sunday evening. The K-Mart where the pick up spot is located is close to their houses. If it was for just a couple of days I would leave the car but for five days I prefer not to leave it parked in the parking lot.

This morning I went to the gym for the 9am spin class, the library, and the pet and grocery stores. Now Bob and the dogs are well supplied with all the essential food and drink necessary for my absence.

The gutter company guy called around 11:30 to ask if he could come early which was fine with us. After he left I went over to visit with Stephanie and the girls for a few minutes.

I still have to decide what cloths to take and pack. The weather looks like it will be much like it has been here the past few days...cool, cloudy, and rainy. Here, the sun has tried to peak at all day but so far, has not been successful. I need to mow the lawn this afternoon once it dries. I did finish the Liam Campbell last night. Stephanie and Malcolm and I walked from 7:45 to 8:45. Between dinner and walking and before bedtime Bob and I watched a few more episodes of As Time Goes By.

Have a great week. I will have trip pictures and stories to tell upon my return. I have been to upper Michigan but not this area. We spend Wednesday night in Columbus, Oh, which to my knowledge, I don't think I have ever visited or passed through. This will be just an overnight place to sleep but hopefully we will get in early enough to see a little of the area where we are staying.
