[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

We had Paul and Mary for pizza on the deck last night. It was a really nice night to be outside, cool and just enough breeze to keep the bugs away. After they left I watched the last 150 laps of the NASCAR race from Charlotte. We took the dogs out for last time about 10. Malcolm let us sleep in this morning until 8:30.

Today is a national holiday to honor all the men and women who have or are serving our country. For me it is a nice day off from work. I spent an hour or more this morning doing little odd jobs that needed attention inside before tackling the weekly house cleaning. After lunch I took the dogs out back to play. I sat outside in the sun for twenty minutes or so while the dogs enjoyed lying outside in the grass before putting them back in the house so I could mow. Since I will be gone later this week until next Monday I set the mower deck down one notch. That should keep it from getting too high before I can mow it again. Ideally I would like to have waited until Wednesday night or even tomorrow night but the weather forecast is calling for scattered storms to come in starting tomorrow afternoon.

Yesterday afternoon I sat on the deck and finished reading the Provincetown book. Last night I picked up a new Death on Demand by Carolyn Hart, Death Walked In. Annie and Max are renovating an old house on the island for them to eventually live in. Since PI Max was framed for murder in the last book he has been reluctant to take on any new clients, particulary damsels in distress. When Annie goes to the rescue of a frantic woman on the phone she finds her dead of a gunshot wound. The woman was trying to let Max and Annie know 2 million dollars worth of stolen gold coins were hidden in their historic house.

It's another fine day with warmer temperatures, low 80's mostly clear skies, and some breeze. It will be back to work tomorrow and Wednesday before having a five day vacation. More on that later this week.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

The case of the missing mystery book has been solved. In case you missed last weeks Saturday post, I thought I left my library book, the China Bayles mystery, at work on Friday. I stopped by the office on Saturday, looked in the drawer where I store my pocketbook, tote bag, books, etc during work time and could not find it. I checked other drawers but it did not turn up. I spent the weekend mystified as to what I did with it.

This morning I checked the drawers again, then checked at the lost and found desk of the Firm and the building. Hum. Back at my desk I checked the drawer one more time. Bingo. The book is one of those small sized paperbacks. When I dropped it down in the drawer on Friday it slipped down into a deep grove where I could  not see it. The drawer is one of two long lateral files the Firm installed under my counter to give me some storage area since I am not in a proper office. I did not know the space was there. I just happened to run my hand along the side of the drawer when I discovered the book. I felt better knowing I was not loosing my mind completely. At lunchtime I picked up where I left off with that book instead of continuing with the Death on Demand mystery. I should be able to finish the China tonight and get back to the Death on Demand tomorrow.

The skies are darkening as rain/thunderstorms are in the area for tonight and tomorrow.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I getting ready to head over to my folks house to pick them up for the trip down to the beach. My uncle has his daughters place at Figure 8 Island, just outside of Wilmington, NC. It takes roughly 4 hours with a lunch stop along the way.

Hopefully we will have good weather. I am looking forward to getting away and resting. It will be nice to lay around, read, and walk the beach.

See you next week.
