[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I had my six month dental cleaning  appointment at 8 this morning making it work by 9. I spent most of the day working on a spread sheet. My brain was just about mush by the time I left at 5. Then on to the gym making it a rather long day.

Last night I started another Ann Purser, Lois Meade mystery, Fear on Friday.

Summer is back with highs today reaching the high 70's. Highs in the mid 80's the next couple of days though the night time temperatures do drop back down into the 50's.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

We almost reached a record high today of 87. Missed it by two degrees.  Not much in the news. Gym again tonight.

I continue to be very busy at work. I should finish up my spreadsheet tomorrow.

We had one guy out this afternoon to give us an estimate on the tiling job. The other guy Bob called is getting back in touch with us next week.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Nasty day. The weather report earlier this week predicted 40% chance of scattered rain showers with the temperatures falling from the high 80's all week to the low 60's. They got the temperature part right but it has been rainy and windy all day with u p to half an inch so far.

I took short lunches as week in order to leave today at 2:30. I had intended to get to my folks house early enough for mom to show me where she wanted some bulbs planted then I would take care of that while I waited on her to call me to pick her up from the beauty shop. It turned out too wet and messy to do the bulb planting.

The physical therapist had just arrived when mom and I left to take her to the beauty shop. I watched dad do his therapy sessions while we chatted. Dad is doing well for only four weeks out from his surgery. They did find some fluid in his lungs when he went to his regular doctor this past Tuesday morning. Otherwise, everything else checked out good.

After I picked up mom and took her back home I went to pick up the take out for dinner. Frances came from work to join us.

I finished reading Fear on Friday. Not sure what I will start tonight from my TBR shelf.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

This morning we prepared the kitchen and dinning room for painting which was mostly just taking down things hanging on the walls and stacking counter stuff on the kitchen table. I moved the dinning room table into the living room to hold stuff, etc.

While I drove out to Lowe's to get the paint he finished up a few things in the kitchen.

We started with the cabinet sides of the room. He cut in behind where the fridge goes while I started painting cabinet frames then he did the cutting in on the other two walls. We have pine paneling in the kitchen like we have in the den. The paneling in the kitchen was painted when we bought the house. It runs vertical above the chair rail and horizontal below. In addition to cutting in along the crown molding and chair rail we also had to paint the groves between the panel boards. While I finished rolling the kitchen Bob started cutting in the dinning room.

Between breaks we still managed to get most of the painting finished by 3pm. This afternoon the ground finally dried off enough to take the dogs out back for a short playtime. The highs never did get out the 50's today since it was mostly cloudy all day. We did see the sun off and on.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

By the time I drove out to get the paint and did a few pre-painting tasks it was 9:45 when I got started on the blue. After doing the crown molding and the chair rail it was obvious the blue would need two coats. We did go from a dark, Williamsburg blue to an almost pale, baby blue. I hate those paint claim that one coat covers; and I did not buy cheep paint. Since I knew I had to do two coats I brushed on the first coat in the kitchen while doing the cutting in below the chair rail and above the floor molding. Other than a couple of breaks, one to play in back with the dogs and another one to walk them down the street I have painted all day. I first coated the kitchen side of the door into the dinning room and the one into the den but I did not do the window frame over th sink or the dinning room side of the door. That can wait until I next weekend or when I start on door.

With painting taking up the day the yard and house have been neglected. Bob took time out from working to do the toilets and sinks for me.  With the walls finished we can get the kitchen back into some semblance of order to make it functional for cooking. I can't put things back on the counter permanently until we get the back splash tiles installed.

I am reading a Lee Harris 2005 mystery from her Christine Bennett series. I had read all this series except for the last two in print which I had not been able to find for a long time. I finally picked them up at the used book store the last time Bob and I went over. This one is the Silver Anniversary Murder. Harris does holidays and special occasion themes in this series. Bennett is an ex-nun married to an NYPD Superintendent. They have a little boy five years old. Bennett met her husband while solving one of her first cases.
