Well, a typical Sunday at the Thompson house. Bob did the
laundry while I vacuumed and mopped the two bathroom floors. After a
shower and lunch I settled in to watch the race but, as usual, fell asleep
within five minutes after it started. The phone ringing woke me at 2:30. I
watched the end of the race which was actually pretty exciting for a road
course race.
Not long after I woke up there was a huge clap of thunder and Malcolm
levitated into my lap. He is not usually afraid of storms but this one
scared all of them. Duncan came over to my feet and laid down with Kerry
right next to him.
After checking my mail and entertaining the dogs for a bit, I fixed
leftover Hamburger Helper, green beans, and garlic bread for dinner. It
never did rain and actually cleared off as the evening progressed. But it
was too hot and muggy to try to go out and mow the lawn.
I started a new mystery last night, Anne Perry's Weighed in the
Balance. This is the first one of hers I have read from the Inspector
Monk series. So far it has started off pretty good.
This is a short week for me and lots to do. I leave Thursday morning on
a short bus trip with my parents. We are going down to the Outer Banks of
North Carolina to visit all seven of the famous lighthouses. I have never
been down to the Outer Banks and am really looking forward to this trip.
Action packed, we will see two lighthouses a day and one on Sunday plus
visiting the famous Kitty Hawk where the Wright Brothers took their first
flight.
With me being gone from Thursday to Sunday I have a lot to do to get
ready. I will actually be spending Wednesday night at my folks' house since
we have to leave from Winston to get to Level Cross by 4:30 Thursday
morning. The bus leaves at 5 AM. So between today and Wednesday I have to
mow the lawn, go to the store, pack, and get general chores out of the way
before leaving Bob to take care of the household.
It is supposed to rain today and tonight so I may not get to mow until
tomorrow. Since I also need to edge the lawn that is the reason I did not
want to start last night. I was afraid I would get started and then it
would come up a storm since the weather was a bit unpredictable and they
were calling for a 70% chance of showers last night.
Nancy and I are supposed to go take a picture of a dog that needs
rescued today. Late this afternoon I have an appointment for a routine
scheduled mammogram.
