[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

It was a lazy afternoon at the Thompson residence once we finished up the morning household chores. I hit the couch to watch the race and catch up on my stack of magazines. Bob went back to the bedroom to read/nap. Once both dogs had taken their turns laying with their heads in my lap and jumped down to sleep on the floor I stretched out for a short nap myself.

We had leftover pizza for dinner then I did the evening Lenore visit. I spent an hour catching up on e-mails and getting this post ready for today.

I officially start my job today working on the live database. There is still a lot to learn that we will have to cover on an as happens basis. This afternoon I have a 2 pm hair cut appointment. Tonight is the Lenonid meteor shower. Our plans as I write this, which could change, are to go up to Bullington around 9:30 for the first peak that occurs sometime within the 11 pm hour. We will make a bed in the back of the Trooper and nap until the next peak which is scheduled to occur around 5 am. Right now the weather looks favorable for the early peak at least.

I will fix an early dinner so I can make my Body Pump class at 6:15 then do a quick Lenore visit. Guess you will have to check in on Tuesday to see how all this shakes out. If you get a chance be sure to head outside at least for the "early show". It will be well worth it.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

We had a change in plans for our evening viewing of the Leonids. The weather for Bullington was iffy because of clouds. Instead we set up camp at the nearby soccer field located about five minutes from our house. We left the house about 9:45 pm to give us time to get settled in. HA! By 11:30 the meteor's were a no show. Not a single orb seen. We all packed up our gear and headed to our respective houses for a short nap before getting back up at 4:45 am for the 5 am peak.

Back at the soccer field again there was a fair amount of meteors for the morning shower though nothing nearly as spectacular as last years due to the moon, haze, and general atmospheric conditions. We stayed until 6:15 before coming back home. I jumped in the shower, read the paper, and ate breakfast with enough time left to write this post.

Guess I better get dressed and head on out to work.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Just after I arrived home, changed my clothes and sat down to eat some lunch the optical place called to tell me my glasses were ready to be picked up. Just before I left work around 11:45 I called Bob just in case they had called this morning so I could stop on the way home from work.

Oh well. I decided since I had to go back out I might as well do the grocery shopping on the way home. My new glasses are great as far as improvements on my vision, especially distance. The main problem will be getting used to the new correction both close up and working at the computer. With the new frame styles being longer and narrower than my last pair, the bifocal sits a little lower than on my other pair. It always takes me a few days to my eyes adjusted to the new lenses.

I started The Winter Garden Mystery by Carola Dunn, the second book in her Daisy Dalrymple series. I finished the Gideon Oliver Sunday night.

Work is going well. Still a lot to learn but I am sure it will all start to make sense in the next few weeks.

Plans for this afternoon when I get home are to vacuum leaves then mow the lawn. We have FAS meeting at 7:30 with plans to meet Paul for dinner at 6.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I was very surprised I was able to fully recover from only 4 hours sleep on Tuesday by yesterday. I did go to bed, lights out, by 9:30 Tuesday night and slept pretty soundly until the alarm went off yesterday morning at 6:30. Usually when I have that little sleep I feel it for several days after.

When I got home yesterday I ate a quick bite of lunch, played some ball with Malcolm, and then got started on the leaves. It only took me about an hour and half to vacuum and mow. It is supposed to rain today and tomorrow so I threw out some more grass seed on the bare spots.

By the time I finished up in the yard, checked my mail, and paid some bills it was time to leave for the library and dinner. When we returned from our meeting, around 9 pm I had to write my post for today and do a couple of chores before finally heading to bed to try and read a couple of chapters before lights out.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yesterday was another busy day. After my requisite Malcolm play time I finally managed to finish the Friends newsletter and get it ready to drop off at Office Depot before it was time to leave for Malcolm's 3:30 vet appointment.

He is fine. It was time for his yearly check up and necessary vaccinations. It was about 4:15 by the time we got back home. I fixed an early dinner so I could make the 5:30 Spinning class at the gym. We watched part of NYPD while we ate dinner. After I got back from the gym and visiting Lenore we finished watching that show plus last night's West Wing.

Tomorrow will be the end of my second week of working. I really like the job, so far anyway.

Sorry for the short post. It is 9:25 as I write this and I want to head off to bed and read at least a couple chapters in my book.

Hope you have a great weekend.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Last night we were invited to have dinner at the home of friends. Duke, who is a member of the astronomy club, also works at SciWorks. His wife Marcia runs the B. Dalton book store at the mall. Duke and Marcia are into rock hunting and collecting big time. Their home is filled with large cases of beautiful rocks from all over the United States and the world. Some they have purchased at rock shows but most of them they have dug out of rock quarries themselves. We spent a very nice relaxing evening over hot cider and good wine.

I am off to the gym this morning followed by a visit with Lenore. This afternoon we have a few chores to do around the house.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Whew! Busy, busy day yesterday. After my hour of cardio combo class at the gym and a quick visit to Lenore I got home about 11:30 to fix some lunch. Afterwards I spent a couple of hours getting the downstairs all spiffy for our guests with some help from Bob. After I finished up with that I washed my car. By the time I had taken my shower I was completely out of gas. I hit the couch with my book but soon was dozing sitting up. Duncan was stretched out beside me on the couch.

Finally he jumped down to the floor and I stretched out for a nap waking up around 4:20. I popped the Stouffer's dinner in the oven and finished up some small tasks upstairs. Bob took off to visit his mom while dinner cooked.

We watched ER from Thursday night with dinner and then spent the remainder of the evening relaxing.

I am off this morning to play golf with my dad. This is the first Sunday since I started back to work we have played.

On the book front. I am enjoying the Carola Dunn The Winter Garden Mystery. Guess that is all the news worth printing for today. See you Monday.
