Over the weekend I read the third book in the Bay Tanner
series by Kathryn Wall, Perdition House. Like Carolyn Hart, Wall's
books are set on an Island off the coast of South Carolina. Except her
setting, Hilton Head, is a real island. Bay's husband was murdered by drug
lords in the first book of the series when his airplane explodes leaving a
severely injured Bay to cope with the loss of her husband. After taking
time off from her accounting practice to try and solve his murder, Bay and
her retired father, a retired superior court judge, start a small
investigation business. In the second book, And,
Not a Penny More, she meets a young computer hacker while
trying to solve the murder of one of his family members and brings him on
board.
In Perdition House, Bay's shirttail cousin, Mercer, calls Bay
out of blue one day to beg her to come down and bail her out of jail after
being arrested for vagrancy. That same evening after she is released she
is arrested again on federal charges stemming from a anti-nuke
demonstration in which a security guard is killed. While being transported
to a state prison she manages to escape. In the meantime Bay's returns
home to find her housekeeper had been savagely attacked. Several days
later, when Bay gets an unwelcome visitor, she decides it is time to hunt
down Mercer and find out what and/or who she has gotten herself involved
with.
Next up, I need to read the fifth book in the quilting series I have
been reading. I also have a couple of review books I need to get read two
reserves from the library.
Tonight I did the 5:30 power step class. I plan on working awhile them
read and watch the final game of the NCAA tournament.

Not really much in the way of news tonight. I have been to
the gym for spinning class. I stopped at the pet and grocery stores on the
way home. By the time we put the groceries away it was time to fix dinner
so I could make my class.
Other than checking my mail I have no plans to do anything tonight
except read and relax. By the time I get home from spinning class it is
7:30.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets got beat badly last night in the final
game of the NCAA tournament. I read and watched the game up until half
time when they were down by 15 points. I watched part of the second half
hoping they would make a come back but they looked even worse. I finally
turned it off with about six minutes left to play.

An absolutely gorgeous day in the Piedmont with
temperatures topping out in the high 70's. I took off from work an hour
early this afternoon to come home and mow the lawn. Afterward I patched
and strawed some bare spots in both the front and back yards. We are
supposed to get rain showers tonight and tomorrow and again later on in
the week.
Not much else in the news. I have to get in some work time tonight for
a couple of hours and then, of course, playtime with the dogs.

Another busy day. I worked an extra half hour to make up for leaving
early yesterday then headed straight for the library from work for Friends
meeting at 4:30. I picked up take out Chinese on the way home. By the time
we ate and cleaned up the kitchen, fed and walked the dogs, it was going
on 7pm.
I need to finish the Friends newsletter and get it ready to drop off at
the printers in the morning so I can mail it out on Monday.

For those of you who had today off, I hope you enjoyed
yourself. It was just another work day at the Firm for me. It has been a
very long and tiring week. The temperatures have remained comfortably
warm, high 70's, all week with clear skies. We did not get the promised
rain on Thursday.
It is to be clear tonight. We may try to get in some observing.
Have a great weekend.
