[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Wow, Bob and I have been married 24 years today. It seems like it was only yesterday we got married.

I went directly to dad's this morning to tidy up some last minute arrangements. The Credit Union did everything by phone from paying for the car to transferring tags and license. I talked with dad's State Farm homeowners rep who lined us up with a restoration company. He was coming at one today too. The only minor loose end is the local fire investigator. Since they towed the car to another city he was not sure he would be able to look at it again. They may close the books on this one as cause undetermined. I called our local insurance rep to give him the information on the new car. He transferred the insurance from one car to another while I was the phone.

Once I had everything set up I went on to work arriving at 10:45. I worked straight through today to make up part of my time. I can either make up the rest of the time or just take an hour of my vacation time. After work I had a hair cut appointment then picked up Bob for dinner out for our anniversary. Nothing special, just the local diner type place.

I finished the Stephanie Plum last night. Some readers complain about her not resolving the Ranger/Morelli issue or that she writes the same book over again I still enjoy her books. She had exploding rodents in this one rather than exploding cars. And, to add to the mix, she gets involved in looking for her missing ex-husband who may have been killed by fake attorneys.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Last night I went to the gym. After dinner I came back to check my mail but forgot to do my diary page. Oh well. Things have settled down with the car fire issue. Dad likes his new car. The restoration people are lining up contractors to replace the damaged carport and driveway, etc.

We are getting a break from the heat with temperatures in the high 80's or low 90's. Still no rain.

I am reading another  Charlotte and Thomas Pitt, Bedford Square, by Anne Perry.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Busy, busy. Today I had to work through lunch in order to leave at 4 for my Friends of the Library meeting. No weekly grocery shopping trip. We stocked up on stuff for Bob last Sunday on our Costco run to last him while I am gone on vacation next week.

Tropical storm Humberto is heading east after making land fall. Looks like the main part of what remains of the tropical depression will stay to our south but may bring us some rain tomorrow anyway. I sure hope so. My lawn may be lost for good at this point. Oh well, I can reseed in the fall much cheaper than I can water. The plants were mostly annuals to be pulled up in the fall and replaced with winter flowers. However, my lantana continues to thrive.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Yippee!  So far today we have had 1.89 inches of rain at our house. There may be a band of rain showers coming through later tonight before things clear up. The mountain communities had anywhere from 4 to 6 inches in some places. This will not only help locally but also fill the lakes, reservoirs, and streams which eventually flow through our areas of the state.

I have a lot to do tonight and tomorrow to get ready for my trip. I am not sure I will have time to post tomorrow. The Firm picnic is being held at the Chinqua Penn Plantation.

The picnic and games will be held at the nearby 4-H camp facilities. The Firm purchased tickets for employees plus any family members who wished to tour the house and gardens. The plantation was open for many years, run by either the state or a trust fund? It eventually was closed due to lack of funds to keep it running. It has been bought and refurbished by a young couple who live part time at the house and part time in nearby Mocksville. I have never toured the plantation. The Firm is providing the food, entertainment for the kids such as a clown, DJ and dancing for the adults, etc. Should be a lot of fun. It is about an hour or so drive from Winston. By the time we do the picnic and get back home I will have just enough time to shower and finish packing before going over to my folks house to spend the night.

Sunday morning the folks, Frances, and her friend Marcie, and I all leave for Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha's Vineyard. Al will be driving the motor coach for Holiday Tours. I have done a lot of traveling up and down the east coast but have never ventured to this part of the northeast. We will drive to NJ Sunday night then on into Martha's Vineyard on Monday staying there four nights. Friday morning we leave for home spending the night in Pennsylvania before arriving home sometime Saturday evening.

After the two weeks of stress from dad's car burning up, work stress, etc, I am ready for a vacation away from home. I will miss Bob and the dogs but if I do not get out of town I do not get a real vacation.

If we take any pictures at the plantation I will have Bob post them on his page next week, so be sure to check in with him just in case.
