Bob
and I did a Costco run yesterday afternoon since we were on that side
of town. From there we picked up the Chinese takeout for Mother's Day,
mom's request, and on to Frances and Al's. Frances had yet another hard
drive failure. We brought the computer home with us for Bob to work on
today.
I made some changes to my Links page and my Diary home
page yesterday which Bob published for me today. Under Diary pages I
now have just myself and Bob plus direct links to Brian and Marcia
Bilbrey's pages. I added and subtracted some links under dogs, mystery,
and music. Deleted Reference and added some news sites and the NOAA
site under weather. I doubt there is anyone but me that uses this page
but if you are interested you can take a look. On my diary home page I
just changed the introduction. Bob also added a link atop my daily
journal page to e-mail me. Please do.
I had a haircut appointment after work. From there I had to go to
the mall to shop for a couple of things I do not like to buy online. I
can buy shoes onlne but I prefer to try to find them in a store where I
can try them on. Tennis shoes I can buy online since I usually the
purchase the same brand in a new model. Finding good, lace up, work
shoes are hard when you have big, flat, feet. I can't wear cheap shoes
but I can wear mid priced walking shoes if I can find some with good
arches and sides. I finally found two pair at Easy Spirit to replace
two of the three pair I just tossed.

I am reading the next Vineyard mystery, Death
in Vineyard Sand. You can guess from the title, J.W. will be getting
mixed up in murder and mayhem on the golf course. Golf is not one of
J.W.'s hobbies but agrees to place with one of his island friends. The
locals are in opposition to a new expensive golf course while the
serious bicycle riders are out to try and ban cars from the roads. Yea,
right.
Frances loaned me a DVD she bought, Mist,
about a Border Collie puppy. I had asked Bob to put in on our Netflix
list before I knew that Frances had bought it. If you like dogs, not
necessarily Border Collies, this movie is adorable for both kids and
grown ups. While the dogs do have humans talking for them their mouths
do not move like the dogs did in Babe.
I came home from work and mowed the lawn. Bob has a radio interview at 8:30. Work is busier than heck. I go flat out all day.
As usual I made some mistakes in adding the URL's on my links page
yesterday. I fixed a couple of more tonight but they will not show up
until after Bob has time to publish the page for me again.

Another one of these late home every night
weeks. Last night was gym, tonight I had to make a Wal-Mart run. I hate
to go out there on Saturdays, even early in the morning, because it is
just so darn crowded. Friday nights are about as bad. I am not sure if
Thursday's are a good night in general or because of the nasty weather.
It has been cloudy and drizzly off and on all day.
Between the Costco run on Sunday and the Wal-Mart run tonight we are pretty much stocked up except for the weekly groceries.
The evening chores are almost finished. The trash is out but I still
have to round up the recycling. It's been a long week. I am looking
forward to tomorrow.

It could not be a more picture perfect day.
Blue skies, breezy, 73 degrees and low humidity. I spent the early part
of the morning doing odd jobs in the house. Picking up, putting away,
etc. Around 9:45 I took a load of work cloths down to put in the washer
and let the dogs out back. We played some ball while I pulled a few
weeds and messed around cleaning up in the basement.
After lunch Bob came down to help me a couple of things including
loading all the astronomy gear back into the white truck. We had the
dogs out back with us while we worked on those projects. While they
enjoyed lying around outside I took chair out and enjoyed the beautiful
day for a few minutes. We then played some more ball before I put them
back in the house.
I finished up by mowing the lawn and sweeping up the drive. Being it is
such a lovely day I am going to throw some steaks and chicken on the
grill for dinner.
Last night I finished up the Vineyard mystery. I now have only
two left. One was written just by Craig and then the last of the
co-authored series by him and Tapply. Craig died in May of 2007. Per
his website he left
three completed manuscripts, Vineyard Stalker, the one I have from the
library to read next, the co-authored book and one other book to be
published this June. His wife lives in Edgartown, MA where Craig sets
his novels. As Bob is always saying, when an author dies, so do his
characters. I will miss reading about Zee and their two children along
with the other supporting characters. At some point I may try the
Tapply series to see if I like them.
And finally, I fixed the other pages on my Research Solutions web site.
I kept getting mail from people doing Google searches for independent
researchers and hitting my site. I put an out of business message on
the pages but will leave the site up. Never can tell, when I retire I
may pick it up again.

It has turned out to be a nice day. The
weather forecast yesterday called for today be cloudy, windy, and rain.
I had talked to dad about trying to play nine holes this morning but
the weather did not look all that great so we decided not to.
Up until about noon, it was mostly sunny and warm. I did the weekly
cleaning chores before taking the dogs out back to play. It clouded up
a little this afternoon but still no rain in sight. BAH!
Instead, I've spent the afternoon working at my desk, paying bills, balancing the checkbook, etc.
