Back to work for me. It was a long day, especially this afternoon when
I was ready for my 3pm siesta on the couch or lawn chair. I am reading
the second book in the C.S. Harris mystery series starring
Sebastian St. Cyr. When Gods Die starts off from where the last book
ended with the Prince Regent now on the throne. When the young,
pregnant wife of an elderly marquis is found in the arms of the Prince,
Sebastian is called in to solve the murder.
Below,
Bob with his new desk arrangement. That very nice organizer was made by
our neighbor who still lives beside my folks. We have several other
pieces of furniture in the house he made for us.
This is Duncan's new favorite place to nap during the day. As you
can see he enjoys the cool air coming out from the vent. Of late he has
being pretty good at night about settling down, only getting us up a
couple of times and sleeping here most of the day unless he is lying
outside. Bob said he did not have a good day today, not being happy out
or in. That may be because he was used to me being home for four days
straight.

The grass and plants are starting to look
pretty dry. We need a couple of days of gentle rain to soak the surface
ground. The water tables and reservoirs are still looking good from all
the rain in late winter and spring. The temperatures for this time of
year have been remarkably pleasant with high's in the 80's and cool
60's in the mornings. I sat outside yesterday during my lunch break and
read.
Gym tonight. Frances continues to do well. Other than a
couple of machines I had to help her with she worked out on her own.
After I finished up at the gym I picked up Bob to go to Zoe's for
dinner.

Rain, finally. I rain into the front edge of
the storm at my usual place on the way home, just as I turn left onto
Coliseum Drive. I glanced at the rain gage on the way by turning into
the driveway. Looked like the storm I drove through had left close to
an inch of rain. Another storm is in progress right now. Just low
rumbles but it is pouring rain again. The dogs will have to wait for
their after dinner walk until this one goes through.
Be sure to take a look at Bob's post
for today. I was doing a Google search yesterday and stumbled upon our
library picture archive. The search abilities for the pictures are
pretty limited but I found that picture plus one other and sent them to
Bob. The next year I moved upstairs to our reference department where
Bob and I eventually met when. Yes, for those of you who do not know,
Bob and I met in the library, him as a patron, me as the librarian. He
eventually asked me out, we dated six months, got engaged, and 25 years
later here we are. Would I do it all again. You bet, in a heartbeat.

The house cleaning chores are done. Bob started the laundry washing my work load first. I ironed it this afternoon.
Last
week when I gave up my cubby for Bob I dumped everything on my desk.
Today I took all that stuff off, sorted it in piles, and placed it
elsewhere in my office until I can get some organizers.
I am
reading a new Mary Daheim, Emma Lord mystery, The Alpine Uproar. Emma,
owner of the weekly newspaper in Alpine Washington, is once again on
the trail of a killer much to the aggravation of local sheriff and one
time romantic interest, Milo Dodge.
Last night we watched the
pilot episode of Blue Murder, another British mystery show. It was
good. The main character has four kids from teenage down to about five
years old and pregnant when she catches her husband in bed with another
woman. Part of the show focuses on newly promoted to D.C.I. Janine
Lewis's stress of running a murder investigation while trying to man
the home front and being pregnant.

Nine holes this morning. We teed off about
7:45. Not a bit of breeze. It was warm and muggy, much like most of
yesterday. Several holes over a slight breeze came up periodically.
We
had a total of 1 1/2 inches Thursday night, a brief shower Saturday
morning and a brief shower/storm last night. I mowed when I came home.
It is warm, high eighties and 50 percent humidity. With most of the
yard in the shade it wasn't all that bad.
At some point today, Bob may take a break long enough to take the printer over to Frances' to get hooked back up.
