[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I am reading another Victoria Thompson Gaslight mystery, Murder in Little Italy. Things were rather quiet at work for a Monday then on to the Y.

We finished watching the Everwood series. Now we are watching Brothers and Sisters by the same producer.

We need rain!

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Off to the doctor first thing this morning. I have been battling some lower back and leg problems for several months. For awhile the Diclofenac I take for me knees was helping but different symptoms kept popping up every other day and more frequently. While I have continued to get the lawn and house chores done I have had to cut way back in the amount I can do at long periods of time.

Walking and standing are the main issues so riding the bikes and doing the weight machines at the Y are not a problem. Even so, I've still had to cut way back on my activity level. The worsening numbness in my left thigh the last few weeks finally drove me to see my regular internal medicine doctor to see what he thinks might be going on. He checked out my reflexes and leg strength, which are good as well as my balance and touch sensation on my feet. He ordered blood work and x-rays of my lower back to rule out a few other issues and phoned in a prescription for the pinched nerve in my thigh.

Since I am leaving Sunday on a week long trip I want to try to get these issues under control. I had a pretty nasty flair up while Bonnie and I were on our road trip. He said I should know something by Friday.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I was about halfway to work this morning when the check engine light came on. I pulled into  a parking lot to call Bob to let him know I was on the way to Merchant's. When I tried to pull out of the lot the car hardly moved. I finally got up enough speed to get it going up the hill. By putting it in 3rd I was able to slowly get going when I had to stop at red lights. Needless to say the people behind me were not amused. I finally turned on my blinkers as a warning I was having a problem.

It turns out Merchant's does not do transmission work. I asked the guy to at least check to make sure I had fluid before I took it to Aamco. I had turned the car off at Merchant's. When I restarted it the llight went out and I had full power again. I called Bob to let him know to pick me up at Aamaco.

This afternoon around 2:30 mom called. Dad had fallen. Mom never gets upset when dad falls but she was really shaken. I hung up and called 911 then called her back. Dad was bleeding alot and had a cut on his face but he was talking to her. By the time I got to the house the ambulance had come and gone with him. Mom stayed behind to wait on me. He has very thin skin on his arms which resulted in some major tears on his arms and fingers. They put stitches in the cut on his face, took him for CT, and bandaged him up. We were there until about 5:45.

I called Frances at work to let her know what happened. Since dad was not seriously injured I suggested she stay at work rather than waste her work time sitting in the emergency waiting area. She met us there when she got off work at 5 then took them back home. I just talked with Frances. He's doing fine.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

The folks and I were supposed to be leaving tomorrow on a week long bus trip to Vermont and New Hampshire. We had to cancel due to dad's medical issues. We had trip insurance that reimburses us for the full cost of the trip.

I took Thursday off to drive them around to various places. We had tickets for Thursday night at the Theater Alliance to see a production of Cabaret. Dad said he felt like going so we finished up running errands around 3:00 and went back to their house to rest before going out to dinner and the play. This is a very small, intimate theater that seats around 100 people. Frances had taken the folks to see a show there a couple of months ago. The play ran until 10:45. By the time I took them home it was almost midnight by the time I got home.

Since my car is still in the shop I parked mine and drove his to run our errands and go to the play. With the temperates still in the low 90's no AC will not work. Also dad has trouble getting into the truck at the best of times. With his injured it would be even harder.

I worked yesterday until 4:30 then went over to pick up dad. Al took mom to the hair salon for her 3:30 appointment. I re-bandaged dad's arm and hand before we left to get pick her up. We ate dinner at the Cloverdale Kitchen next door to the hair salon. Since I was supposed to be out of town next week I needed to pick up milk and a few things for my lunches. We made a quick stop at the grocery store then I took them back home.

This morning I worked in the yard. After trimming back dead stuff and other garden maintenance I cranked up the lawn vacuum. The leaves are falling early this year from the dry weather. We have been six weeks without rain. I disassembled the cement block and brick enclosure I had built to hold the trash cans, then called it quits for the day.

I am reading the new Donna Andrews' Stork Raving Mad.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

It had just started to rain when we took Malcolm for last time out around 10:30. We had a brief thunderstorm a little later on but we did not get much in the way of rain when I checked the gauge this morning.

I spenth the morning getting caught up on three weeks worth of ironing then did the weekly house cleaning chores. I've spent the last couple of hours sorting through stuff on my desk, checking web sites, etc.

It was sunny and cool this morning. Then about half an hour ago it started pouring down rain. It is supposed to rain all day today and into tonight and tomorrow. Hopefully we will make up the three to four inch deficit due to this recent drought.
