As I have said before, you always have to be careful what you wish for. The only problem with dad not driving is Frances and I spend a lot of time driving them around from place to place. The bus will take them to certain stores during the week and doctor appointments on Tuesday and Thursday mornings but there are other times they need to be places. Not a problem for me as I am very glad to have them here to drive around but it can make things hectic once in awhile.
Today I left work at 10:15 to pick up dad for a Christmas luncheon at the hospital. Mom was not feeling that well and decided not to go. It took exactly one hour from the time I left work, walked to me car, drove over to pick up dad, drop him off at the hospital, and get back to work. That was my lunch hour. Then I left at 3:00 to go back and pick him up, make a stop at the grocery store to run in and pick up something for him, then back home. While I was there I made several phone calls to take care of some financial business they needed help getting taken care of.
Frances spends almost every Friday taking them to dinner and running them on errands and sometimes all or part of Saturday. Thankfully they can still get out and do things at their age,
