Good thing we emptied the rain gauge last night when we took Colin for last time out. There was close 2 1/2 inches since Monday. Tonight there is another 3 1/2 inches and the rain is still falling. Had it been colder we would be buried under snow right now. Instead the yard looks like a small lake and the streets have lots of standing water.
The rain is supposed to change over to snow at some point. In the meantime the wind is blowing 25 mph with gust up over 40. With the saturated ground there will be trees coming down I am sure.
It was yet another full, hectic day at work. I had planned on working through lunch yesterday and/or today to make up some of the time I missed Tuesday. Both yesterday and today I had no choice in the matter since we are so slammed I ate while I was working both days. I also did not get away from work until after 5pm this evening. By the time I slogged through the driving rain with just my rain slicker to the car I called Bob and told him I was skipping the Y and heading for home. And, since traffic was horrible it would have been 5:4o before I even arrived at the Y.
This morning it was warm and just drizzling so I did not wear my big winter coat. This evening an umbrella, even my big wind proof one, would not have been much good against the driving rain but my longer coat would have kept more of my pants dry.
Even though the snow did not start before I got home I was glad I drove the Trooper with the roads so sloppy and filled with water.
