Work continues to be going at a torrid pace. I worked from 8 to 1:30 then left to go pick up mom from the hospital. I was a little worried not knowing exactly how she would be mentally. She was a little confused about some things but mentally alert about others. Dad was waiting for her at the door front door when I pulled up at Creekside. The residents and manager made a big fuss over her when I wheeled her in.

I had her almost settled in by the time the senior care case worker showed up to interview mom and me. Home Instead is a franchise offering senior care services. When the lady walked in I thought she looked familiar. When she asked mom where their old house was she mentioned she lived just around the corner and that her mom also lived nearby. As soon as she said that I asked her what her maiden name was. Turned out we went through elementary, junior, and high school together. She’s had various careers before getting into the senior care business.

Tomorrow and Thursday we have someone coming 9am to 5:30pm to assist mom with handling daily living until she gets stronger both mentally and physically. Frances arrived from work at 5:30. After I filled her in on some things and we finished getting mom signed up for assistance I left to go fill her prescriptions and pick up dinner for them. Once I delivered both back to the apartment I head for home.

Overall, I think mom is doing better than I expected. For now, Frances and I will continue to cover nights and the weekends until we see how things progress.
