1:20 yesterday I got the call from Frances. Dad was acting non-responsive while they were eating lunch, EMT was called, he was on the way to the hospital. Yep, four for four so far this year so far with a hospital visit for one or both each month. I took my time knowing it would take awhile for the ambulance to get him there and into the ER.

When I went back to the ER he was sitting up with just oxygen but looked horrible. His temperature was 103. I stayed back there to answer questions and talk with the EMS folks to see what was going on. The volunteer that works the ER waiting room came back to tell me Frances had arrived with my mom. I went out to fill them in. Bob and I had plans to go to Costco with Paul and Mary. After we determined that dad was not in any real danger and all I could do was sit there I left to come back home and proceed with our plans. We arrived back here in time for me to see the last two holes of the Masters and the playoff. Frances called around 6:30 to let me know there was a debate between moving him to ICU or ENT which is intermediate care. They were concerned that his BP kept bottoming out. They finally decided on ENT. Frances and mom left to go to her Frances’ house where she fixed them some dinner then took mom back to Creekside. She elected to stay by herself and sent Frances on home.

In the middle of all that I had a call from mom and dad’s CPA about their tax return. We knew it was going to be a mess because we cashed all their stocks in at the end of last year. She needed two checks to file with their extension request.

This morning I picked up mom at Creekside. We stopped by the CPA office then went on the hospital. Dad was much improved, sitting up in bed and had just finished breakfast. He looked better but was still mentally a little confused. I stayed until the doctor came around who assured me they would most likely be moving him to a room up on the family practice floor sometime today if they have a bed.

From the hospital I made a stop at Allegacy to take care of some banking stuff for both us and my folks. I made it to work around 10:50. Later this afternoon I had to make a quick walking trip over to mom and dad’s bank to deposit a check for them. Fortunately it was not a very busy day at work since I had very little sleep last night and all the running around this morning.

I have not had an update as yet on dad but at this point I imagine no news is good news. The preliminary report this morning was pneumonia but that has not been confirmed.
