I had an appointment this afternoon with the orthopedic doctor to talk about knee replacement. The nurse is calling me at work in the morning to set it up, most likely in late September or early October. I’m fed up with the lack of mobility and activity I want to do that I can’t with both the knees getting so bad.
Although the right knee, the one without the brace, is bothering me a lot more, the left one is still the bad one according to the x-rays they took today. I am tired of wearing the brace and Dr. Howe thinks that once I get the left one fixed it will cause less wear on the right one. At least I will have only one flat tire instead of two. If all goes well, I’ll probably have the other one done next year. While this is the same practice I have been going to for my out patient surgeries, that doctor does not do replacements. I was very impressed with Dr. Howe. He spend over half an hour explaining the various types of knees and replacements available.
