Remember when you were young and your mother told you to never run with sticks because you might poke your eye out. Of course, as kids, we just scoffed at yet another “motherism”.
Well, Bob called me this afternoon to let me know Colin almost poked his eye out running with a stick. Ever since he came home he has loved sticks; chase them, chew them, and run around the yard prancing with them in his mount. I discouraged the chewing because of the chocking factor or getting one lodged in his throat but never thought much about the running. Instead of carrying them balanced in the middle he likes to carry them holding one end. Apparently while he was racing around the yard he lost his footing (hard to believe with four paws) and poked his eye area. Bob said he let out a yelp/scream. Bob told him to stand still, which surprisingly he did, and let Bob check him out. No damage done but that put and end to sticks. Bob started substituting a tennis ball for now. I’ll look around at the pet store for safer alternatives next time I go.
I did a grocery store run on the way home. We had not really needed anything for the last week to ten days so I waited until my mild and juice has run low before making a full run.
After dinner I went take Colin out for his after dinner walk and was quit surprised to find that it was raining. We are getting a nice easy, steady rain shower that we really do need.
