My surgery went well on Thursday morning. We had to be at the hospital by 5:45. I was out recovery in a room around noon. The first 48 hours were pretty rough. I came home this morning just before lunch. My first PT was Thursday morning in the room and twice a day again on Friday in the room. Saturday morning they took me down to the therapy gym for exercises and to show me how to go up stairs with the walked. I had Bob come down Saturday afternoon for them to show him. I had PT again this morning in the gym before I came home.
Overall, my first experience staying in a hospital was not as bad as I feared. The nurses and CNA’s on my floor were excellent. I am walking pretty good with the walker right now. In home PT starts tomorrow. Of course the first thing I did this afternoon was take and shower and washed my hair. They gave me sponge baths Friday and Saturday.
Colin was horrible while I was in the hospital. The therapist at the hospital recommend we set a chair outside, have me sit down, put the walker around me to protect my legs then let him out to see me. Worked like a charm. Then Bob him back and pinned up in his office until he got me in and the car unloaded.
It’s great being home. Everyone at the hospital said I was making excellent recovery so I look forward to that continuing.
