Day 8. One of my work friends called me this morning with some sad news. The mother of one of the secretaries that I am also good friends with died suddenly last night. She had not been ill, as such, so it was something of a shock to the family.
She also called to let me know her and our paralegal were coming by around noon for a quick visit. They showed up with all kinds of food from Salem Kitchen. We have enough food for several meals and a $25 gift certificate I can use to pick up some dinners after I go back to work.
The home health nurse came this afternoon to remove the staples. Not too bad a process though a couple of them “stung” when they came out. The incision is basically healed except for a tiny place right in the middle. I have steri-strips that will stay on until they decided to fall off by themselves. I can still take showers but, as before, not get it directly under the water flow.
I did not have any sympathy cards in the house so this afternoon Bob and I went to the grocery store to pick up milk and a couple of other odds and ends plus a card. It was great to get out and about. Since the therapist did not come today I used that as my PT.
I am reading the first book in a new series by Kate Carlisle, Homicide in Hardcover. Brooklyn Wainwright lives in San Francisco working as a consultant to various museums and private individuals restoring rare books. I found books two and three at the used book store and Bob found this first one in the series for the Kindle. I have the others on the Kindle too, so I can read them either way.
