I went to the gym this morning then on to the bank and the grocery store. I did the store run because we were supposed to go up to Sparta tomorrow to look at houses. However, our realtor called to let us know they have had 10 inches of rain up there and more to come tomorrow with this new system coming in. They also have trees down everywhere. So we cancelled that trip which is fine.
By the time I made it back home the yard cart had been emptied. I ate an early lunch then headed out to do yard work. We have not had rain for at least 24 hours and with the wind the grass was dry. It has not been mowed in almost two weeks. The problem was what to do. The grass was too high to use the leaf vacuum and the leaves and grass were too thick to mulch with the mower. I ended up catching which meant mow two strips and dumb. I actually had to take the yard cart down to the back and dump it once just to get the front done. I can dump the bag in the back corner and under the maple at the end of the drive when I do the back. Once I finished the yard I did run the vacuum on the driveway. Most of the leaves were dry enough to get up except where they had been run over by the car and ground down. Right now, there are as many leaves piled up under the maple and in the back corner as I would have had by the end of October, not the first.
Regardless of what the hurricane decides to do, we are still under a flood watch here until Sunday with a lot of rain expected on top of what we have already had since last Friday.
