Saturday

I took off for Wal-Mart at 8:30 this morning to beat the Christmas shopping crowd. There was hardly anyone in there even by the time I left.

By the time I got the temperature has risen enough to melt the frost off the roof so Bob could rake the leaves down from either side of the raised roof over the porch. He can do it from the ladder and not have to climb up. I an so glad I finally talked him into gutter guard a few years ago before he started having balance issues. He does not need to be up on the roof.

I used the blower to get the natural areas cleared and most of the straw from the patched areas. After a lunch break I mowed up the remaining leaves and grass for the last time until spring. The leaves and ground was still too wet from all the rain earlier in the week for me to use the lawn vacuum. Other than picking up sticks that blow down that’s it for the lawn until next spring.

I am reading a new Emma Lord mystery, Alpine Winter, by Mary Daheim.
