I am reading the new Alan Bradley mystery, I am Half-Sick of Shadows. The title comes from a line in Alfred Tennyson’s The Lady of Shalott. Which, by the way, Loreena McKinnett does an excellent music version of on one of her CD’s I have. Anyway, an excellent mystery series featuring eleven year old Flavia de Luce who assists in solving crimes when not stirring up concoctions in her chemistry lab in the large mansion where she lives with her two older sisters and dad.

It’s been very warm all week with temperatures in the 60’s and lows only in the 40’s and 50’s. Today it was very windy making my morning walk up the hill on 4th street a real challenge with it blowing down hill in my face.

This year I was not all that happy with the way my lawn looked after the usual springtime growing frenzy. Today I had another company come out to give me a quote. I think I will go with them next year. Several of our neighbors use this company and their yards look really nice all year long.
