It’s been an interesting day. It was snowing lightly when I had Colin out around 7:40. I had planned to go down to Winston around 9 this morning to run a couple of errands before meeting Nancy and Betsy for lunch then go by the hospital. It was going to be late afternoon before I got back. I called Jeff to let him know I was leaving later in the morning so he would not have to come over and let Colin out.
When I left here at 9:45 the ground was getting white but the roads were just wet. I decided to drive the Trooper with the forecast here was for snow all day and snow to start in Winston this afternoon. By the time I was a couple of miles down the road they had turned snowy. I pulled into a store parking lot and put the Trooper in 4 wheel. No problems going down the mountain.
We had a nice lunch at Olive Garden during which time it had started to snow hard in Winston. I called the hospital Bob had his tracheostomy this morning, the doctor called me while I was in Winston to let me know he was back in ICU. The nurse said he was still groggy from that. With that said I did not go see Bob but instead headed for home. Visibility was bad on 421 with snow blowing straight at you and traffic was heavy. I got off 421 to take business 21 all the way into Elkin back to 21 instead of taking 421 to 77. The Trooper is a ’93 with 137000 plus miles on it. I’ve driven it in as much as 20″ of snow and I trust it when the roads are bad.
Looks like we’ve had a couple of inches so far. Colin romped around and played when I let him out. We have to resort to the soccer ball in the snow so we don’t loose blue ball.
Barbara, thanks for the update and glad you had a safe trip. Prayers and best wishes.
