72 degrees, sunny, and calm this morning when I left for the gym.
My friend and I had a great time at Folk school making bark basketry.
Very interesting process to take an entire piece of tree bark, score it in the middle either with a straight line or a foot ball shape and bend in up into a basket. You then drill holes in the top and sides for to use more tree bark for handles and thin cut tree bark for lashing to tie it all together. Handle and lashing bark is soaked in water to make it pliable. I made four baskets of various sizes and shapes. It’s an intense weekend with classes starting Friday night after dinner and going all day and evening Saturday with breaks for meals. We finished up our projects Sunday morning then we left for home. We did not stay for the show and tell part of the morning or for lunch so we could get back on the road home.
We went to dinner when we got back to Sparta then my friend headed back to Winston.
It’s an 8 hour trip from my house to the Folk School. We had good weather both going out and coming back home.
