I am reading Winterkill by C.J. Box.
My friend Donna stopped by yesterday afternoon for a visit. We sat on the front porch and played with her beagle puppy while we visited.
Colin was so much a part of my daily life from sharing bits of my meals, following me around the house, to going outside to work in the yard. It’s hard to explain but with the new furniture it’s not so painful to be sitting alone without him on the sofa with his ball.
I still expect him to come running in the bedroom at night when I turn off the light after I have been up reading or greeting me at the door when I come home.
It makes perfect sense that the new environment helps.
I kept checking my good boy’s water dish every night. Even when I finally picked up and put it away, I kept looking at the spot. We are creatures of habit, and they are such a big part of our lives.
There is a new good boy snuffling around the house, and it’s not the same, but it’s good. And I check the water dish every night.
