Hey, we are back from PA.

I sprung him from the hospital Thursday afternoon at 12:30. We went to their house to finish packing then to Frances and Al’s to put all our stuff in the rented Ford Explorer that Al picked up that morning. We left Winston around 3:30 and drove as far as Roanoke, VA. By the time we checked in, unloaded and went out for dinner it was 8:30 by the time we got back to the hotel.

Before we left the hospital that morning I had instructions from the nurse on how to flush dad’s picc line, administer his vancomycin, and flush the line again. The drip takes two hours. Friday morning we were up and out arriving at our hotel in Columbia, PA around 6pm. Dad did well even with the long day and climbing in and out of the SUV. We checked in, went for a quick meal, and back to the hotel to start his medicine.

The nurse told me I could back it up an hour each night to get it down to a reasonable time of day so I started it at 8pm.

Saturday morning we drove up to Hellertown to pick up our meat from the butchers that we like than drove back down to Bird in the Hand, PA for a stop at the farmers’ market for a quick lunch and some baked goods then on to Wrightsville, PA for the reunion.

All of the first generation cousins except one made it to the reunion on the Fritchman side. There was also one of my uncle’s wives side of the family there as well. We had a great time seeing cousins I had not seen in 30 or 40 years. We met lots of great husbands, and children we had never met before. We arrived at 2 and left at 6, just about as long as dad was able to do. Back to the hotel to rest and administer his medicine.

Up this morning at 5:3o, we left the hotel at 6:45, stopped for breakfast around 8 and back on the road. After lunch and break stops we made it to Frances’ house a little after 5pm.

Dad did really well considering he had been in the hospital. I am so glad we were able to take him. He really enjoyed himself.
