Sunny and warm with highs in the low 80’s. Chance of rain/storms this afternoon.

While Frances and Al are out running errands for me I am doing the laundry. They had a couple of places they wanted to stop at for themselves along the way to the drug and grocery stores and library for me.

My freezer in the garage is plugged into a GFI outlet. For about the third time a power surge tripped the outlet and turned off my freezer. When Al went to their freezer packs in there last evening all my food was spoiled. So, He had to clean up all the melted raw meat mess in the freezer. Fortunately, did not have a lot in there. Stunk to high heavens.

I am going to get George to change the outlet to a regular one before I load up the freezer with food again.

Hi Barbara, that is really unfortunate. Can I suggest plugging a low wattage lamp or a nightlight into the outlet too, so you can see at a glance if it’s on?

I’ve also got cheap Indoor/Outdoor digital thermometers on each of my freezers. I put the outdoor probe into the freezer and stick the display on the front, or on the wall above the freezer. I’m kinda compulsive about looking at them every time I go past.

There are fancier ones that have alarms you can set for different temps.

It’s very difficult to get the smell out once it’s in the plastic. It’s been more than two years since I did something similar, and there is still a faint odor in my upright. I cleaned it thoroughly, used disinfectant and deodorizer, bleach, and odor absorbers. I only keep stuff in it now that is vac sealed in heavy plastic. I hope you have better luck than I did.

It sucks to have the loss, especially now with high prices on replacement food. Good luck getting back to stocked.
