Rome was not built in a day; I know that. I have no idea how long it took but getting my parents house cleared of all the stuff will more than likely take longer.
Frances and I had another long Saturday. We met with a VA representative to help us get dad’s application for benefits moving along. One of the perks of moving into Creekside is getting a monthly pension for his military service. We met with him at Creekside at 9am.
After we finished up with him and did a few things at their apartment we headed over to the house. While I started cleaning out kitchen cabinets mom and Frances worked on more of the clothing mom wanted to donate to Goodwill or take over. We worked on that for a couple of hours than took a break to go eat some lunch. After lunch back to the house to load up all the stuff we were either taking to their apartment, my house, and/or Frances’ in the Trooper.
Back to the apartment to unload and start organizing that stuff. Around 4:30 France and I went to Lowe’s home improvement to look for some short shelving units to go in the long closet in the hallway for storage. While out we stopped at Newk’s, a new sandwich, salad, and pizza place to pick up pizzas to go for us.
Back at the apartment while mom and dad went downstairs to eat I put together the two shelving units. Frances worked on more organizing and putting things away. I finally left over there a 6:45 to come back home.
Frances and I are now at the point where we can go over by ourselves to sort, box, and whatever. We can put things in piles to either take to them or have them come over at a later time and stuff that we want hauled off to Goodwill. We have someone who is coming for the remaining furniture once we get to that point.
