[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

I don't usually cook breakfast for breakfast. If we have pancakes or waffles and eggs it is usually one of our dinner menus. But today I have a rare Saturday where I don't have to be anywhere or do anything specific, so I decided I would cook a big breakfast this morning.

Spring has sprung here in Winston-Salem. Despite taking my allergy medication, I am sneezing like crazy this morning. I will have start using my nasal spray in addition to my medication to keep the runny eyes and stopped up nose under control.

I was going to take the dogs to the park, but it looks like rain is coming in this morning. Maybe we will go tomorrow. The race is on late here since it is out in Vegas.

I am redoing some of my web pages and working on my site.

I did my library work yesterday afternoon. Then rode over to the animal control and picked up Malcolm's dog license. All dogs in the county are supposed to be registered and wear a numbered tag. You only have to pay one time and they send a new tag every year. We've had animal control in our neighborhood recently on a complaint about two dogs that are roaming free all day. My guys don't run free without me being outside, but occasionally stray farther away than the next yard. If animal control is in the neighborhood and spots one of them they need to have that tag.

Saturday afternoon 5:00

I managed to get three new generations up on the web site today. Plus, I redid several of my business pages. We had a beautiful warm day. The rain never got here. I had the guys outside playing a lot off and on all day.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Today is house cleaning day. Bob usually does the laundry while I do the cleaning. I am supposed to meet Laura and her two Border Collies at the park later on this morning. We only stay about an hour. Then I will come home and watch the race.

After dinner I will do some more work on my genealogy stuff and take catch up on the bill paying. Guess it will be a full day. Hope I don't fall asleep watching the race.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

The race ended up being a dud, with rain ending it. The Doral golf match however turned out to be quite exciting. I often switch back and forth between golf and racing on Sunday afternoons to keep up with both. Jim Furyk came back from six shots down with seven holes to play to win. Quite an impressive display of shot making and clutch putts to win.

Off to the gym this morning for spinning class. My schedule the last few weeks has been so hectic in the mornings I have had to miss class. I have been going later in the morning and just doing my cardio and weight work.

Then back home to take care of the home front. Bob is trying to finish the last two chapters to submit to O'Reilly for 100% completion of our book. I will try to get more work done on my genealogy stuff between interruptions. Data entry is quite tedious plus keeping up with the names and generations. About an hour into working and names and generations and siblings all start to run together. It is not something you can work on for long periods of time without taking a break to get rid of the cobwebs.

Hope everyone has a good start to the week. Still spring like weather here in the Carolina's. I may putter around in the yard this afternoon. The pansies need some fertilizer. Probably mow the grass before the week is out.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

The best laid plans of mice and men. Yesterday was a gorgeous day. I took my shower and headed off to the mall to pick up a couple of things. Came home and caught up on some mail. I then decided to get the dogs out of the house so Bob could work, I took them along with me to run some errands. I needed to run out to Becca's farm to get the tables for an upcoming CBCR event. It gives the dogs a chance to run and get some exercise.

Becca took Duncan in the sheep pen and worked him on sheep for a few minutes while I played with Malcolm. Then we turned all the dogs loose to run around and play. We headed back up to the house so I could hose off Duncan who decided to take a roll in sheep dung. Malcolm and Becca's dogs ran down toward the creek behind their house. I called him back and hooked his leash on the fence while I got Duncan cleaned up to get back in the car.

When I went to unhook Malcolm I saw this huge round gash on his back leg. Becca went to get medical supplies while I examined the wound. It was very clean and had evidently just happened. I took off for home and decided on the way to go ahead and stop at the vets and have it looked at.

malcolm-radar2.jpg (32938 bytes)  They kept him for about 45 minutes to sedate him and stitch up the wound. The vet said it looked like he snagged his leg and tore the skin back. This is a picture of him having to wear his Elizabethan collar to keep him from chewing on the stitches. How would you like to sleep with your head on a plastic dish. He only has to wear it a couple of days. The stitches come out in twelve.

Bob went with me to pick him up from the vets and we grabbed take out on the way home. We were supposed to go to the park last night, but of course that plan got iced with Malcolm getting hurt.

When Bob downloaded the pictures from the digital camera he found this one taken a few weeks back of Duncan and me relaxing on the couch. I am supposed to be reading, ha! I am sure Malcolm is asleep somewhere nearby. barbara-duncan-couch.jpg (46252 bytes)

We had quite an eventful day. Today is another busy one. More on that tomorrow.

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

Today is my mom and dad's 54th wedding anniversary. Tomorrow is my sister's birthday. She has to work tomorrow night, so we are going out to celebrate tonight. We have reservations at one of the nice restaurants nearby. Bob and I will celebrating the near completion of our book.

After dinner we are coming back here for ice cream and cake and present opening.

Busy day yesterday. After grocery shopping, I headed off to my parents house. We grabbed some lunch and picked up my sisters lawn mower and took it home. Then went back to their house so I could mow my dad's front and part of the back yard. After that we drove to this nice little bakery/deli that make fancy birthday cakes. They are the ones who made my Border Collie for my birthday. We had Frances's made to look like a teapot since she collects them Back to my folks to drop them off.

I brought the cake home with me. Checked my mail, then went out and mowed my grass. Came in and cooked dinner, walked the dogs, finished cleaning up the kitchen, more mail stuff, got Lenore ready for bed, took the dogs out for the last time and finally got to bed.

One of the calls on my answering machine when I got back home yesterday was from the local animal shelter. They have a BC they want me to come look at to see if we want to spring her. I am going this afternoon and take a look at her and get some pictures. I hope we can find foster space for her somewhere.

This morning I will change the bed linens and fold a load of Lenore's cloths. The Sunday shirts that line dry need dryer tumbled and put away.

I will also run over to the printers and pick up my postcards. One of the marketing ideas I picked up from my meeting was to use postcards as follow up mailing to former clients and to potential clients. We will see if they work for me. I had them print some business cards too. I had been using the computer "perf" cards up to this point rather than spend the extra money on printed cards. But, I needed nice looking cards to take with me to my meeting next month.

Malcolm was a good puppy yesterday. Spent most of the day sleeping and resting. Last night he was chomping at the bit or I should say the dish. He was ready to play and burn some of that energy he had stored up all day. I took his dish off from around his neck and let him go outside and run around some on the leash. Than he would not settle at bedtime, but wanted to pester everyone. Poor little guy does not know what to do with himself right now. The leg looks much better this morning and I will take his dish off some today and supervise his play time to make sure he does not bother the stitches.

It has been a busy week!

[Last Week] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Next Week]

cake-40.jpg (49720 bytes)frances-cake-40.jpg (47436 bytes)mom-dad-frances-40.jpg (53022 bytes) HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister Frances. We had a little birthday party for her last night at our house after dinning at The Vineyards. She is five years younger than me and my only sibling. She lives in Winston-Salem near my parents, pictured above. The day she was born, 40 years ago, there was 16" of snow on the ground. Today it is to be 70 degrees and the trees and flowers are all in bloom.

Malcolm was pretty wild last night. He has learned how to reach around his plastic collar to chew at his stitches. He was full of energy last night and would not settle down. He needs burn off some that energy he has stored up from two days of inactivity.

I was going to the gym this morning and then the drugstore. But, I called the vet and they will see him at 9:15. We have to come up with a way to either bandage the wound or somehow keep him from getting at it. We can't sit and watch him all day and I am afraid he will get at those stitches and chew them.

I may not get to the library this afternoon to do my volunteering with all that is going on. We'll see how it goes. I am supposed to be picking up the female BC that is in custody at the local animal shelter if she was spayed last night.

Whew, busy week and busy day.
