Monday
greetings. As I mentioned Saturday I am reading a new Dana Stabenow
mystery. Her Kate Shugak series is one of my favorites. I love the
Alaskan setting, the characters, and especially Kate's dog Mutt. A
wolf/husky mix, Mutt is one of my all time favorite dogs featured as a
regular in the mysteries I read. In Whisper To The Blood, Kate and her
significant other, Trooper Jim investigate two murders associated with
the new mining company coming to the Park. While it will bring jobs the
locals are concerned about the flora and fauna of the Park plus the
disruption to their lives. Kate has her hands full as the newly
appointed chairman of the Niniltna Native Association and her adopted
teenage son Johnny along with other minor problems in the Park.
Last night we watched Howard's End starring Emma Thompson. We had seen it many years ago not long after it first came out.

Over the weekend I talked things over with my
folks, Bob, and my sister about my knee options. Today, after talking
again with the guy that measured me for the brace I have decided that
is definitely the route I am most comfortable taking right now. They
will call me when they get it to come in for a fitting, instructions,
etc.
Gym tonight which means a late dinner for us. We had just
sat down to eat when the lawn mower guy called to let us know he was on
his way. I have him come out every spring to service both my mower and
my lawn vacuum. Even though I just bought the mower late last summer I
still wanted him to change the oil and sharpen the blade. He also
checks and cleans the air filter and spark plug I used to change
the oil and have Bob take the blade off for me to drop off at the lawn
mower place to get sharpened. Then I had to haul the oil out to my
mechanics to dispose of the oil, Bob had to put the blade back on, etc.
This is much easier and less hassle for me and Bob.
After he
left we walked the dogs. Bob wanted to talk with the folks across the
street about a potential worm that is to go off on April 1 and let Kim
know so he could fix their computers. After he talked with Kim a few
minutes to find out when he could do her machine he took Malcolm home.
I stayed down talking with Kim for about half an hour. I have not seen
her much since the first of year. We had a nice long chat while
Duncan just laid in the grass enjoying being outside.

I stay up until after midnight last night to
finish reading the last 100 or so pages left in the Kate Shugak. I
recommend giving this series a try. It was a nice break from the darker
Booth and Hill novels. I did start another Reginald Hill today during
lunch. The weather was cold and damp with periods of rain, not
very good for taking a walk.
I spent the entire day editing and
cleaning up a large document in preparation for sending off to a
client. Between ferreting out duplicate pages and typo's I had to make
changes for the attorney and paralegal to the content.

Rain, drizzle, clouds, fog all of which has
added up to around an inch of rain for us. Duke lost badly last night.
I finally went to bed a little after midnight with Duke down 15 points.
Villanova played a great game especially defensively but Duke could not
put the ball in the little round cylinder. I am not sure, had it been
twice as big around, they would have done any better. As my high school
coach used to tell us, they were so bad their shooters could not have
thrown it in the ocean.
A quick stop on the way home to drop a
book off at the library and pick up milk and applies at the store.
Carolina, the only remaining ACC team plays tonight at 10:00.

More rain today. I've spent the day cleaning
out files in my filing cabinet, organizing my desk top and working on
the stuff in the work room we brought up from downstairs. Using a door
as a work area is wonderful but I don't have desk drawers to store
things it. Thus, they live on the top of my work area. I do have a
cubbyhole shelf sitting on one side of my work area that helps
with a lot of small storage.
Carolina won last night. I went to
bed at midnight with them leading by 20 points and roughly 5 minutes
left to play. They play again tomorrow. The Thursday teams that won
play at 4 and 7 tonight.

We went out to dinner last night with Paul
and Mary to Zoe's then visited with them at their house while Bob did
some computer stuff.
Lots of sunshine today but very windy. I
had the dogs out back to play but not for long with the chance of limbs
blowing down. The weekly house cleaning chores are finished. We ran
into yet another problem when we replaced the hinges on the cabinet
doors. We had one of the hanging shelf units on the back of the pantry
door. With the inside mount hinges the ladder track that holds the
baskets would not go over the hinge and could not be moved over.
Instead we took the over the door mounted one from the back of the
kitchen to dinning room door down and mounted this one on that door. I
moved the over the door mounted one to behind the work room door. I can
use it for odds and end storage.
Bob did get the outlet strip
mounted under the cabinet where the new microwave plugs in. The strip
had been just lying on the counter.
I have more organizing chores this afternoon. Basketball games and golf later today.
