Another
warm day. I left work at 4 for my 4:30 haircut appointment. I usually
can get a 5 or even 5:30 but Pam was book up at those times for today.
I go every five weeks. Rather than change days or wait another week I
just took an earlier appointment.
I know he will not admit
it but I imagine Malcolm enjoyed having a rest day after playing and
working hard over the weekend. He always pesters Bob more on Mondays to
go out to get a break from being bored. I would love to get another
dog, a young female, but I don't think Malcolm will be very accepting
of another dog in the house. He is very territorial and now being the
only dog, has become very used to being the only one getting treats and
attention. At one time I thought he might be happy with having another
dog in the house that he can boss around yet have for company. Problem
is, Malcolm thinks he a human, not a dog.

Happy 64th wedding anniversary to my folks.
I
took off from work early this afternoon to take the white truck in for
an oil change and general checkup. While Tim's wife was
checking/updating their records on the computer she reminded me
the car would need an inspection in May. Two years ago NC went to an
inspection/car license plate renewal system whereby both expire at the
same time. She asked if I wanted them to go ahead or to wait. Of course
I had it done today saving me another trip back out with this car. It
will soon be time to get the oil changed in mine and inspected.
We are watching a new show tonight, Cold Feet. It's a combination of the USA version of Friends and the British show Coupling. Last night we watch series 3 of Tudors.

Happy Birthday to Frances. I had dinner
tonight with my friends Nancy and Betsy a Red Lobster. First time I had
eaten there in probably 20 years. Food was very good. Frances and
Al are having dinner on their own tonight since we did the big birthday
celebration last Friday. Frances, Nancy, Betsy and I drank a toast to
your 50th birthday with many happy returns.
Things are still very busy and hectic at work. I love it but by the time I leave work I am pretty much used up for the day.

The rain finally got here sometime this
afternoon. It was barely sprinkling when I left work but by the time I
got to the Y is was coming down pretty hard. We've only about half an
inch. Thankfully, it is 60 degrees outside, more like spring than late
winter.
I am reading another Dalziel and Pascoe, Death Comes
for the Fat Man by Hill. Dalziel and Pascoe get blown up by a bomb at
the very beginning of the book. Now, Hill cannot kill off his main
character so I trust he will remain in his coma throughout the book
while Pascoe hunts down who was behind the bombing. This is more of
Hill playing with his reader, as he does in every book. If you like
snide comments, great dialog, and an interesting twist of plots you
have to read this series. It is not for those seeking light reading or
a cozy setting.

I picked Bob up after work to make a quick
stop at the library to pick up and return books then on to Zoe's for
dinner. We had about half an inch of rain through early Friday night.
We had two inches last night. It was pouring rain while I was still
sitting up reading. Bob said I slept through a mild thunderstorm
sometime during the night. That is very unusual for me but I am not
surprised. It was another rough, busy week at work so I guess I was
sleeping hard for change.
Blue skies and sunshine this morning
but the clouds have rolled in this afternoon. More rain and storms on
the way. I did the weekly house cleaning this morning. Malcolm and I
went out back to play some ball while I checked out things in the yard.
I picked up a few sticks, pulled off some dead plant material, etc.
Most of my daffodils are up and ready to bloom. My early and later
blooming crocus are up in both the front and back. And, just overnight,
the trees have budded out.
Reading and watching ACC basketball and some golf this afternoon.
Duke made it to the second round to play Miami. They slaughtered our
local team, Wake Forest on Thursday.

We sat up last night until 10:30 watching the
last of the Tudor's season then finished up Cold Feet. By the time we
walked Malcolm and changed all the clocks it was already going on
mid-night. I read a few chapters in my book before finally turning off
the light.
Now the day is a total loss getting up at real clock
time of 8:45 but body clock time of 7:45. After reading the paper and
walking Malcolm I took off for the folks house. They were running
behind because of the time change as well. They decided to go to IHOP
for brunch. I called Frances who met us there. It is very near to both
my folks house and hers.
Bob and I had to clean out the corner
of the basement this afternoon that leads to the pump for the water and
toilet from the finished area. Since we live below street level
we had to install one when we put in the apartment for Lenore back in
1991. We had it repaired once since then in 1999. Bob was going to do
some cleanup in his lab yesterday afternoon but soon realized he did
not hear the pump flushing water out. He called and left a message with
our plumber. It is not an emergency, we just cannot use the water or
toilet down there until it is fixed.
