[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I woke up about 7:15 which of course alerts Malcolm who at this point had not bothered us. I've been doing stuff in my office most of the day including emptying my ironing basket. My office looks pretty good since I've moved all the living/dinning room stuff out. My office wall along the back and part of one side have floor to ceiling shelving strips. There are short sections between the one window and two long ones running beneath and along the entire length of the back wall. Our hardback, non-first edition books cover halfway across four shelves. The other shelves hold an assortment of other books. I keep the center of the long shelves free for temporary stuff as needed. Another wall is covered by yet another free standing bookshelf.

At some point I need to paint in here but removing 200 or so books and masking those shelf strips gives me nightmares. I also have a regular hard core door mounted to one wall that I use as my desk which I will have to paint around. I can assure you it will not happen this year. Maybe next winter.

Speaking of winter, I had a follow-up appointment with my orthopedic doctor in the morning for 7:40. The weather gods are calling for some type of precipitation to move in maybe tonight through tomorrow. I have not had good luck with that office and bad weather. Several times last January and February we had bad weather and I ended up sitting the office waiting for an hour for them to open up. This time I planned ahead and changed my appointment for later in the week.

The rest of the day I will be available for Bob to shoot pictures as he needs me.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

The first snow of the year did not amount to very much here in the Triad. We had maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch, just enough to cover the yard good. The forecast had called for it to snow more this morning with snow showers this afternoon and tonight. Instead it all blew through by midday. The sun melted most of the snow but the cold temperatures and wind stayed behind. Currently it is 26 feels like 15. Tonight is to be a low in the teens with 15 to 20 mph winds.

With our driveway and  street being snow covered I put the Trooper in 4 wheel drive if nothing else to make it up the driveway. By the time I got out to Reynolda road things were mostly just wet. I hit some more snow covered roads on the way over to University Pkwy. By the time I left work the streets were bone dried and white with salt. I took it out of 4 wheel when I left the parking deck.

East of us toward the coast had as much as 6 inches and it is still falling. As the front moved through it pulled the moisture from the Atlantic giving those folks a nice snowfall.

With the three day weekend things were very hectic again at work. I am still buried under several projects that I chip away at in between putting out fires.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I had my 8 week follow-up appointment with my orthopedist this morning. I am still unable to put full weight on my knee to take a normal step. He said, and I agreed, the knee still looks a little puffy. He injected it with another cortisone shop to help with the swelling. He told me to continue my anti-inflammatory pills and my gym workouts eliminating anything the knee will not allow me to do.

We have a funny thing happen at work today. It is not unusual for several of us in our group to have one a similar color scheme, khaki pants, gray pants, and sometimes the same colored shirt. When that happens we always kid everyone else about not getting "the memo". But today six of the ten women in our group wore dark purple/eggplant colored tops and black pants. So, if you wore the same thing today, either at work or home, you must of have been experiencing the same karma as we were.

I finished the Stephen Booth last night. Not sure what I will pick up tonight. I did not start anything new last night since I knew I would be working through lunch today to make up for being late from my doctor appointment.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

After a somewhat chilly walk to work this morning it had warmed up nicely by lunchtime. I grabbed a salad at a nearby cafe then took a long walk back to the building. The knee is feeling much better after the shot. It was starting to weaken by the time I finished my walk but recovered after spending some time back sitting at my desk.

I had worn my coat when I left the building based on the Weather Channel current temperature. It was actually so warm I took my after lunch walk carrying my coat. I was very comfortable in just my knit shirt with the sleeves pulled up.

After work the usual library and grocery store stops. I reserved some more Stephen Booth for Bob to get started on while I finish up the ones we had plus ordered a couple of new authors I ran across somewhere to give a try.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

Dad received another 25% off through one of his credit cards again, this time for Barnes & Noble. My folks are not much into bookstore shopping. Still they had a good time while I wandered around looking for titles from my TBR notebook that I cannot get from the library. I managed to find a couple but the mystery section at B & N is about 1/3 of what Borders carries. The last time I was in Borders I checked several non-fiction, relatively new titles on their computer. All were not in stock but could be ordered. I prefer Borders if I do bookstore shopping over B & N because I have a better chance of finding what I am looking for.

We went from the bookstore to Panera Bread for lunch then I took them back home then ran several other errands on the way home.

The weather is really nice today with high's in the mid-50's which is short sleeve T-shirt weather for me even when the wind gets up. When I got home I headed out to the yard to do a few things and enjoy just being outside working in the yard. Last fall I discovered some type of powdery mildew on my euonymus bushes. Cut them back to the ground and sprayed. The others did not look infected. I never did get around to cutting the others back. I like to keep them from getting too overgrown. I also needed to cut back the gardenia and my butterfly bush. When I started cutting back one of the euonymus I discovered more powdery mildew. I checked around and found it on two others and the little boxwood by the front porch. Apparently it does not dye in the winter. After cutting everything back I sprayed them to hopefully kill the mildew.

Last night I stayed up until 11:30 to finish reading Scar Tissue, the Tapply I started reading Thursday night. I just had to keep reading to find out how it was going to end.

[Last Week] [Monday] [Tuesday] [Wednesday] [Thursday] [Friday] [Saturday] [Sunday] [Next Week]

I did the usual house cleaning chores this morning and had the dogs out for some playtime. Other than that I have not been able to get motivated to do anything else. Last night I started reading another  Dalziel and Pascoe.

I am grilling steaks and chicken for dinner. The sun has been out most of the day with temperatures in the mid 30's.
