We
arrived back in Winston-Salem around 3:00 after dropping my aunt off in
Greensboro on the way home. The weather was great the entire time we
were at the beach. Friday was a little cool and windy but it warmed up
nicely Saturday and Sunday. I walked on the beach a couple of times.
Otherwise I read and rested other than helping my uncle and his wife,
who hosted, with kitchen chores. And, I take the four sisters plus my
folks under my wing.
My very smart and wonderful husband held down the home front, built
me a new computer, AND blew the leaves off the yard yesterday. What
more can I say.
I read a couple of books from my TBR shelf while I was gone. The first
book in Diana Killian's Yoga mystery series, Corpse Pose and a new
author I picked up somewhere along the line, Karen MacInerney, Murder
On the Rocks set on an island off the coast of Maine. Killian's book is
set in New Jersey.
Late yesterday afternoon I started the newest book in the Lumby series by Gail Fraser, Lumby On the Air.
When I called Bob on Thursday to let him know we got down there okay he
told me they called to let me know my glasses were in. I stopped and
picked those up on the way home after I dropped of my folks.
I've unpacked and checked my e-mail. Time to catch up on the newspapers and snail mail.

Back to work for me today. As you know I park
in a deck about a block and half from the building where I work. Since
the first of September I have been using the reserved spot of one of
the attorney's I work for who has been out on sabatical located in in
the deck next to the building. He will be back in a couple of weeks. In
the meantime it has been very nice especially this morning. When I got
to the building this morning there were people lined up along the
sidewalk. I could see a fire truck down the street. I pulled on in the
deck and sat in my car until I saw people heading back in. Turns out we
had a mechanical problem on the roof.
From the time I got to my desk until around noon I was putting out
fires from being gone, most of which the result from being off
yesterday. After lunch I was able to get other stuff from the end of
last week mostly caught up by the end of the day. I left at 4:30 to go
to the Y then stopped to vote on the way home. I was number 622 and by
6:00 there were only a few people in line.
Last night we watched the first season of Grey's Anatomy which we
enjoyed very much. We are also finishing up the last season of Brothers
& Sisters.

Today was chilly with rain this morning but
it had almost stopped by the time I walked up the street to meet a
friend for lunch.
It continues to be very busy and hectic at work. My short week is
turning into a long one. After work I made a library stop to pick up
some reserve books and a quick stop at the grocery store. Last night we
watched the last episode of Brothers and Sisters. Now we have to wait
for this season to be over and come out of DVD. Much like having to
wait for my favorite authors to write their next books.

Chilly and windy today. I spent this morning
catching up on a basket load of ironing then started on the house
cleaning. Two weeks of leaves and dirt tracked in, ugh! It took awhile
to get my office floor emptied of suitcase, travel stuff, etc.
Last week at the beach I tried not to pick up too many shells since I
have so many. Last year I finally found a way to display them. I took
several different size brandy sniffers, including a gigantic one that
belong to Lenore, and placed them in those. The big one is nice for the
really large shells you can find on the island. This time I tried to
only pick up very unique ones or the really large ones that had a some
pretty color. Once I get these washed good I'll add them to my
colections. I also have some in a basket and a tall hurrican glass.
There is no way I can walk on the beach and not pick up shells.
I finally finished getting the house in order by lunch time. Bob had a
all my beach cloths to wash making the loads much larger than usual.
After lunch I spent an hour getting my desk cleaned off. Time to take
Malcolm outside for a few minutes of run around time. I can pick up
sticks to get the yard ready for tomorrow's leave clearing
extravaganza.

Three and half hours of leave blowing and
vacuuming. Most of the leaves on the two trees in the front are down.
The back three have a way to go yet. Fortunately Bob did the yard last
weekend or it would have been even worse.
Marcy called yesterday afternoon to see if I wanted to go out for
dinner tonight. I'll rest awhile this afternoon and be ready to go. I
am reading a new book by J.A. Jance in her Diana Ladd/Walker Family
series, Queen of the Night.
Chilly again today with some wind. It got down to the low 30's last night.
